About Engaging India @ Almedalen
‘Engaging India at Almedalen’ is an annual seminar series held during Almedalen Week, and brings together Sweden-India stakeholders from industry, academia & government to catalyse cooperation, collaborations & co-solutions for Climate Action.
Engaging India at Almedalen platform for thought-leaders, industry, academia and government from Sweden and India to engage on global issues such as climate action, sustainable development, technology and collaborative innovation.
Held every year as part of Almedalsveckan, the focus of Engaging India at Almedalen is to catalyse engagements between Swedish and Indian innovation ecosystems to foster new approaches, frameworks and solutions that is available for everyone.
Notable previous speakers include Ambassadors of India and Sweden, thought leaders and industry leaders including Nandan Nilekani and Mayank Singhal, international acclaimed academia, and leadership from institutions such as Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), Vinnova, IIT Madras, Sweden’s Office of Science & Innovation, FICCI, Trade Commissioner of Sweden to India, Business Sweden, Beckn, e-Gov, Mahindra Group, Deloitte, Mastercard, Swedish Institute of Quality, Uppsala University, and more.
It is organised by the Future Urbanisms programme of Uppsala University, Sweden, Zerocity Network, and strategic and sustainability communications firm Content People AB, that focuses on building strategic and impact driven engagements between India and Swden. Engaging India @ Almedalen hears from thought leaders, industry experts, academia and the government through a series of panel discussions, seminars, fireside chats and interviews on various topics.
Almedalen Week
Almedalsveckan was started in 1968 by Sweden’s former Prime Minister Olof Palme on Gotland. Over the decades, Almedalen Week has grown into one of the world’s largest events that draws industry, academia, governments and civil society from Sweden, Europe and more recently Asia to exchange ideas, network, build relations and transfer knowledge on societal and sustainability issues.
